Celebrating the National Day of Norway - May 17
Despite chilly and snowy weather, we took part in the celebration of the Norwegian Constitution Day. Actually, since wife and toddler were in Finland that week, the rest of us boys and my dad visiting from Arendal, rose early to catch the ceremony at the war memorial at Rambergan, Tromsø. This event created the atmosphere of the day with marching band music, the singing of May 17th traditionals and last but not least the national anthem.
We also took part in the children's parade, the Sabbath Service and traditional May 17 games at Ekrehagen school in the afternoon. In spite of drizzle, we even got round to seeing the sitizens' parade later in the afternoon.
