Glugg.no - discover, share, vote on and discuss content on the web
Among a few social bookmarking concepts available in the Norwegian language, the newly launched glugg.no seems to have great potential. I fancy this rather than other alternatives due to the seriousity displayed. There you won't waste precious time browsing heaps of crappy recommendations. Basically, glugg.no provides users with the opportunity of adding a url, a heading and a brief description of their favourite story or video, voting on the best stuff and even launching into a discussion on any content. Consequently, glugg.no surfaces the best stuff as voted on by the users.
Glugg.no conveys quality
In order to further ensure a certain standard, registering is a prerequisite. Furthermore, in contrast to some of glugg's competitors (for instance Kudos and MSN Reporter), a policy of descretion is maintaned so as to ensure censorship of material unsuitable for kids and sites primarily for commercial purposes.
Features that make it worthwhile
Among its many neat features is voting. Every story submitted to glugg.no gets a count of how many votes the article has been given. For every registered user that clicks on the vote-button, the count increases by one. A story deserving of a place among the top-stories, needs to get a certain number of votes.
One thing that makes it social blogging, is that you may add your friends to see what they're glugging. In this way you may discover what your friends find interesting, and at any time you could discuss a given article.
Additionally, in case you are a prolific blogger, glugg.no is one exciting way of sharing your thoughts. Actually, you may easily add a voting-button on your blog!
Whether glugg.no succeeds in capturing the Norwegian market just like its counterpart digg.com has done in the English language, depends on a fairly rapid increase in users and popularity. As far as I'm concerned, the ground breaking success is in view.
The architect of Glugg.no, Asle Ommundsen, has published a few news items on his personal blog Webaksess.no about the publicity that Glugg has received so far:
