Happy New Year 2008!

newyuear08.jpgWe would like to wish our family in Finland, Norway and Switzerland, friends around the world, rediscovered friends on Facebook, colleagues and of course random readers of this blog all the best for the new year! The boys had fun writing 2008 with sparkle-sticks. You should try too! Closer to mid-night we'll go to the Tromsø town centre to enjoy the huge fireworks from Fløya. All the best! New Year's celebration always provides the opportunity for reflection, and I thought the introduction of the televised New Year's speech of King Harald of Norway would be appropriate as he raises important questions about life and the values we allow into our lives. Allow me to quote His Majesty the King:

"New Year's Eve gives us the opportunity of taking a pause and think for a moment and let time stand still. Sometimes, when I go hunting, I drink mountain water straight from my hands. Occationally, when life is particularly good, I wish I could stop time and seize it with such bowl-shaped hands. How often do we really contemplate how we fill our days? How often aren't we hastening along from one place to the next without understanding that life is what's inbetween? Instead we make life a travel, a matter of transportation from cradle to grave." (Translated freely by me)

My prayer for the New Year is to let the important things in life have preference in my life so that such things as as Jesus, family and relationships become the core of life.

    Nyttårsønske ditt er meningsfyllt og godt, og det viktigste i livet. Hva er vel livet uten Gud og gode relasjoner. Som kongen sa i talen sin, vi må ta mer vare på hverandre, ikke bare tenke på oss selv.

    Gjelder ikke bildet/ tema dette kommenteringsvalget representerer; kunne du imidlertid være litt hyppigere på tidsfornyelse av spindelsvevsbilledappatet ditt siden jeg til stadighet tar stikk-titt på Tromsøværet visualisert fra ditt panoramavindu.

    Du, Aikkioo, jeg kommer til å bruke live webcam mer så snart lyset kommer ordentlig tilbake. Når det er mørkt, ses bare refleksjonen av kjøkkenet...
