Playing the Cello
Finally Mathias was accepted by the county's music school. His preferred instrument was actually the drums, but this summer the school called and said there were no available places. Instead he applied for either violin or cello-lessons hopeing for the former. Four weeks later we received a letter saying the only thing they had an opening for, was cello-classes. Mathias is happy he ended up with the cello, cause he loves the sound of it and the teacher is nice. "Maybe playing the drums would have been more fun," he remarked when I asked him. Yet, no hard feelings. He seems to be at one with his cello.
Since he was only a toddler, Mathias has undoubtedly had a way with music. He loves singing, dancing and now playing the cello. He actually practices at his own initiative. His saxophone playing brothers rarely practice before numerous reminders have occured... We hope his enthusiasm will endure at least a couple of years.
