Niklas walks unsupported
Baby's first smile, first steps, and first words are exciting events that are certainly worth recording! Niklas has for quite some time been able to stand unsupported, and finally on 12. June he took his first solo walk.
Since baby's first step is a developmental milestone that most parents never forget, we made sure to document this momentous occasion thoroughly.
Niklas beamed with unparalleled joy and enthusiasm when he balanced on his own two feet across our parquet flooring. His energy and feeling of mastery became contagious as the walking progressed, flattering his proud siblings and parents. Although babies learn to walk from the age of eight to eighteen months, and you know it's coming, the moment it happens is still delightful.
At these moments of joy, I'm wondering if I might be sensing a faded, vague notion of what God felt when he first gave life to man in the Garden of Eden, and when someone decides to turn to Him to be saved. I presume even our omniscient God knows all about how to live in the moment although he knew from all eternity it would happen.
Now we are eagerly awaiting his first real words. This far he has only said a few Finnish sound-alikes, like "tis" (the beginning of the word for tit), "kis" (the beginning of the word for "cat", so he has way to go on the talking. In the meantime, he'll for sure keep on walking, and we'll keep you posted on his progress.
